The blizzard hit today. We've gotten at least a foot so far and it shows no sign of stopping. The wind is crazy and has created snow drifts almost four feet high.
We opened the front door and discovered a snow drift that comes up to my son's shoulders. Good thing we've kept the side door clear, otherwise we would have to go out the window.
Don't ask me why he is wearing a coon skin cap.
This is the side of the house. The snow blowing off the roof has caused a complete white out at times. Last weekend we got an 8-inch snowfall that finally convinced us to buy a snowblower. My husband is extremely happy with the purchase. :)
Surprisingly enough there are still some vehicles on the road. Mostly 4x4s but we have also seen at least a dozen minivans and sports cars. It's fun watching every single one of them get stuck in the same spot. I'm not really sure what made those people think their vehicles were capable of plowing through snow that is up to their bumpers.
It has gotten so bad that the snow plows were called off about an hour ago. They had been on the roads for 13 hours and still weren't making any headway because the snow is coming down so quickly as well as drifting. They should be back at it around 2am when the snow is supposed to slow down.
You know it's bad when the snow plows give up.

isn't this nuts?? i never would have thought we'd get this much drifting in the city! and STILL snowing?!?!? yikes!! not looking forward to digging out tomorrow.. good luck to you!! :)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to live where it snows like that...it looks really beautiful, but from the sound of it, must not be much fun!
ReplyDeleteThat is how things were here last year - It just kept snowing and snowing and snowing. We had 3 major storms and another 2-3 minor ones.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're getting a white Christmas, no way all that can melt in 2 weeks.
Oh how I wish I got snow like that here! Yeah, the coon skin hat is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI can completely sympathize with you! A snow blower is an absolute necessity living anywhere it snows. Auto-start is another priority! lol. We get white out conditions on occasion but thankfully the snow drift stuff doesn't happen. That would be so aggravating to wake up and not be able to get out the door.
ReplyDeletewow! We only have about 4 inches here in north Georgia and that's enough to to shut the entire county down! Hopefully it will be gone by Thursday here...it's only fun for a couple of days! :-)
